Hello wonderful viewers! Hope I didn’t keep you all waiting! As you may have known, I decided to take a break from Substack for a week. My productivity was waning, so I needed time to rest. Now that we are back, we shall give you all the wonderous poetry and fantastical stories you’ve been craving!
Before that, I just wanted to share a few words about my journey. It’s still a slow and steady pace that this Substack is growing. I’ve been known to be impatient in certain aspects of my life. To this day I fervently pray for explosive growth here. Little would matter to me more than being fully capable of financing my life through my creative writing. I itch for the day to properly bring forth my novel “Mage Hunter” to an audience eager and willing to read my fantasy musings. Not to mention the myriad of ideas swimming inside this brain, beating against the walls begging to be unleashed.
I still have a lot to learn, but from what I see a lot of the success I see on here is guided by chance. I see some notes going viral that doesn’t seem to have any real logic as to why it garnered so much engagement (or maybe I’m just illiterate and cannot decipher as to why.) Its difficult to truly know where the quality of my writing stands most of the time. While I wish I could achieve more subscribers and acquire more comments, I can’t honestly blame anyone or anything. It’s a massive website with millions of creative minds. I even struggle finding time and energy to read all the content I want on here.
Other than giving my creative mind the time to recharge, I’m also trying to get ahead by having more poems and content scheduled for release, so I may adjust my workflow in a way that (hopefully) will yield more results. When I first began, I was able to get a weeks worth of daily poems, a short story, and an article completed which would take me 2-3 days of the week, allowing more time to participate in Ian Cattanch’s writing school and contributing in other ways on Substack. With this “reset,” I planned to get ahead two weeks, so I may have ample content readied so I can commit more time to participating in the community. We will see how this pans out.
To those who have been sticking by me throughout this journey, I have nothing but the utmost gratitude to all of you!
By the way, I am hosting a Q/A, which if you want to participate, you can write your question in the comments on my post here:
Without further ado, here are the poems you may have missed out on while I was gone:
Here’s an article about inspiration and how to find it. Instead of generic advice, I just share from personal experience how I tackled this type of issue.
And now, your poem of the day! Enjoy!
Empire, Lost
Winners of war, dictators of history.
Truth obfuscated by nefarious men.
Glory shackled away; an empire completely etched off the face of the earth.
It’s technology, its past – gone.
A slaughter of the inquisitive, sundered by fools and psychopaths into frightening silence.
Though a new voice, rediscovered in the new age of information.
The truth will be revealed.
